    RM4 and GSP1101 Help

What kind of settings for gain and module volume? I often play metal, but don't like ultra-high gain (prefer the harder hit with lower gain), but I could see if the (relatively) same settings here will produce the squeal. I know I've had that before, but not with the current setup... Once...

    RM4 and GSP1101 Help

Does the 1101 have an overall output volume knob? On my 2101, that is also set extremely low (I believe its 9 o'clock or possibly less). Any higher and the output power amp was overloaded. It was a pain to first get it set up, but I had to deconstruct every element along the way. First step...

    RM4 and GSP1101 Help

Hi guys - I'm using my trusty old GSP-2101 with an RM4 and then M4 and have gone through all this too. What I settled on (and why): Guitar -> GSP GSP send -> M4 rear input M4 output -> GSP left/mono return GSP -> RT2/50 The reason I wired this way: the GSP-2101 has compression and EQ before...

what module has the best recto tone?

I've got both - if I were using only these two, the Erect would be rhythm and grail for leads (or emphasized rhythms). I think the grail has a higher midrange emphasis (but I haven't looked at an EQ analyzer so I might have that backwards, but that's the way I hear it), but the sonic quality of...

    1086 tube debate

I'm probably not the best person to ask because of my setup (Palmer instead of speakers). I was searching for my own kind of rhythm sound (haven't searched for lead yet), so I can't really relate it to who it sounds like... I like really snappy (as in neck-breaking crunchy) sounds and bite...

    1086 tube debate

IMO it has the best sound without being tweaked and grabs your ear right away. Then when you start learning a lot of the other mods it turns out to be the least tweakable (even with all the switches). I liked mine so much when I first got my MTS stuff that I kept going back to it, but it just...

Boost/ gain boost in front of RM100

+1 - the modules do sound excellent, but different flavors of boost will give you additional tweaks to the sound that are just impossible to get otherwise. Neither is better or worse - I'd think more like customizing a module without a solder gun ;)

    What's next for the MTS?

I probably shouldn't say much more just because I don't know which parts of those threads were objectionable, but just sayin'... I tried to make it clear with the edit that I wasn't directing this at you in any way. Probably should just shut my mouth

    sound difference?

I'm guessing if you don't use the loops on the RM4 and run direct from the pre-loop out it will be about the same. If I remember correctly (don't take this as fact!) I read Bruce said the same. It makes sense since the pre-loop out comes before the loops. I'd bet they removed the FX loop from...

    sound difference?

I only just got a used M4 dual and haven't had a chance to A/B the enclosures. From what I understand they should be similar enough in construction that there wouldn't be an audible difference, but there are a couple of Randall modules that I think probably don't sound like they "should", so...

Boost/ gain boost in front of RM100

I like the Cusack Screamer a lot. What I really like about it is the tone knob has a huge variation from no change to a super tight sound that can help a guitar that's a little bit too boomy/flubby. The distortion knob on it is also adjustable from no fuzz to a nice breakup that I usually use...

    What's next for the MTS?

Questions like that might get the thread deleted  (edit: I'm not warning or implying anything, just observed this happen before)

Who has had problems with thier MTS and who hasn't?

For your "tracking" purposes, mine was brand new less than 2 weeks old and purchased from Musician's friend. It was not biased too hot the last time I checked the bias (within one day before it arced). I'm not an electronics guru, but I've used multi-meters for various things for better than...

    SS Power Amps with RM4/M4

Makes perfect sense...if you want to match the total sound of some specific amp, but then why not buy that amp? I like the idea of M4/RM4 with RT2/50 because you can mix them all up and shake to taste. My question was mostly directed towards something I'd never thought of before. Looking for...

    SS Power Amps with RM4/M4

Is the power section on a solid state guitar amp "voiced"? Not arguing the point in any way, just looking for a bit of education because I didn't think they would be. My understanding has always been that SS guitar amps are 90% preamp and 10% build quality or something similar (where that 10%...
