Tough choice! The 1086 and the Ultra XL are my fav High gain (The only one I haven't tried is XTC and the signatures) modules.

Yup, Dark Syrupy and smokey! I think it's a niche module, but it's a great niche! Haven't brought myself to get rid of mine.

Hey if you don't mind, where are you getting these push pull-pots? Mouser#? Also want to get some switches too that fit on the PCB. I'd like to do some mod ideas I have, but which are the right ones aren't obvious to me. Thanks!

Thanks kc2eeb, That gives me a great starting point regarding the Gain and Tone and how the caps work. Is there any info regarding which cap affects what? I've seen a schematic, though my skills for that are minimal.

I know they can be used to get a little more gain cookin, but is that all they do? Do they affect EQ of the module at all? I'm guessing C7 affects V1 of the module, and C13 affects V2 of the module. Am I on track? Sometimes I've noticed adding or deleting caps here can make a nice difference...

It appears it was a bad pot. The old one didn't even measure! I put in a test pot and the module appears to work. Thanks to Bruce for his assistance. Now all I need is a replacement so I can put in the proper pot.

Update: I put shortplate tubes in there and they DO glow, the long plates I had in before were just hiding the fact. So I don't think it's a tube problem. However there is still VERY low sound. If I CRANK the amp I can hear the guitar ever so slightly and the tone knobs work. The only knob that...
