If you look at the board where the tubes are plugged in, you'll see small white lettering and one socket is labeled V1 and the other V2. Also you may want to check out some Ruby tubes. In some modules I really like them.

I'll bet that most people that really dig the 1086 play is some drop tuning. I play mostly in standard or drop D and I find it uninspiring. It's not horrible but it spends more time in the drawer than it does in the rack.
