I use the older style WRAHEAD 300w head, the one with the eq on it. I use a MXR 6 band eq and recently switched to duncan sh6 pickups in all of my guitars. I turn the mids down on the amp and up on the eq pedal and it sounds pretty close.

Solid state is OK to run without speaker cabs.

I use a WRAHEAD also. I'm not a big tube fan myself they are a bit sensitive. I use an RH200SC for a backup. It's a n older model but I have seen them within the last year around me still. Check the used gear shops. You' d be amazed by what you can find.

I have the old blue one. It like it but have not tried the newer one. The only thing I wish it had a footswitch so I could use it to boost the leads and cut back when I play the rythm.

The preamp makes your sound and the power amp adds the volume for the most part. Some effects do better after the distortion is put into the sound than before like scooter said. Experiment.

It takes the sound you are getting now and enhances it. I get more crunch and screaming harmonics (my cats don't like that very much) with the MXR.

I messed with it a bit more today. I get some good low end now. I never noticed how sensitive the eq is on it before. I don't play through it very often but I am recovering my WARHEAD. The tolex is ripped to hell. I am a bit rough on my equipment.

Mine is quiet. I don't use any noise gate and can leave the gitar volume up without any problems. The settings I put up on the other reply should still give you a good sound. can't say for sure because mine is the 300 watt head unit. I use a custom built 200 watt 2x15 cab and a B-52 400 watt...

If the problem is that it is too tight then you could drill a hole in it. A bit permanant if it doesn't work though. An advantage of the hole would be that you can tune the bass response a bit by adding different length tubes. There is an equation to figure out the tube diamiter and length for...

My RH200 used to do the same thing. I found it to be my guitar and not the amp. If it is quiet without the guitar plugged in then try a different guitar. It could also be a circuit board problem. Maybe a capaciter.

I have a RH200SC as a backup for my WARHEAD. level - 5 contour - 6 bass - 10 voicing - on mid - 0 treble - 8 gain 2 - 10 Gets good harmonics and a nice crunch. It's hard to get a lot of bottom end out of it.

I think all of the RH heads were solid state. My RH200SC has no tubes.

I have a 1st generation warhead (the one with the built in eq) and I need a footswitch. Does it use a standard 2 button with a stereo 1/4 inch plug or is it different?
