Letting go of MTS gear - Long Island/NYC area

It's a George Lynch custom Vox-ish module. It has nice chime to it, and I think it has a bit less gain than the Top Boost module. I wanted to cover all of the sounds - Fender cleans, Marshall and Vox, which is why I originally bought these modules. They served me well and are now just...

How does the MI Audio Crunch Box sound with the MTS Series?

IMO the Crunch Box can't touch the SL+. I was using a Reissue '59 Tweed Bassman with the Crunchbox and Bad Monkey in front. As soon as I got my Lynchbox combo I A/B'd the Crunchbox vs. the SL+ and there was no comparison. I am not a heavy distortion player at all. I now goose the SL+ with the...

my delay really sounds bad through my rm 50 combo

I actually bought the G Major and hated it. To my ears it didn't sound good at all - my pedals killed it for warmth. Reading through the manual with all the tweaks involved it reminded me why I hated rack effects 20 years ago. Happy and dumb and staying with pedals.

my delay really sounds bad through my rm 50 combo

My feeble brain simply has waaaay too many options with rack gear. Tried em all back in the 80's and just didn't have the time and/or patience to tweak away. When I want reverb, chorus, delay, etc. I want one or two simple knobs to turn. I don't want or care for 10 different options for each...

my delay really sounds bad through my rm 50 combo

My pedals work fine now in the serial loop. I just use a pot (one of those master volume pots that came with a Hot Rod Deluxe I bought a few years ago). I dial the pot to around 7 and the pedals work fine. If I dial the pot higher than 7 I start to hear that overloaded distortion sound. You...

Clean Blackface and Tweed - SL+ Boosted by Bad Monkey

Just wanted to put some clean clips down. I've never done this before so have patience with me. All songs are recorded via a SM57 into my little Digitech Jamman. Guitar is a Nashville Tele with GFS neck and Middle Strat Pickupps and a GFS Fatbody Tele bridge pickup. The first is a clip of the...

Soon to be convert needs some advice

Yes. And I really hate those rack units. Way too many parameters for my feeble brain. Just give me knobs to twist on good old fashioned pedals and I'm happy. The other thing with the RM50 is that you can use JJ 6V6's in there to get you around 20 watts if you want. The RM50 seems to be the...

Soon to be convert needs some advice

I would say if you are going to use pedals in the serial loop and will be bringing the line level down to utilize those pedals then you want the 50 watts. With my Lynchbox combo I find the 50 watts to be enough volume to utilize the pedals and to be heard onstage. I am bringing the line level...

Figured out my setup - simple techniques

Now I switched to the Blackface for cleans after figuring out that one of the cap's legs was touching the bass pot, resulting in a horribly weak sound. Unbent it and it now sounds great. The Tweed's bass is just a tad too flabby for the clean sound I am afetr. and that's even with a Tele. So my...
