Re: Anyone using their Axe-Fx 2 as a cabsim?

is it right or not? because it sounds "muddy"/"overcompressed" when im playing my 8 string . :? :? :? 1. There's a Hi/Lo Gain switch next to the Main L XLR Out (as well as the FX Send). Where is it set? It sounds like it's set to Hi Gain, so try setting it to Lo Gain. If so, it's a Gain Structure i...

Re: SYN-50 vs Mod 50 heads

My experience has been that the Synergy modules sound WAY better in Synergy Preamps/Amps than either my RM100 or RM20

Synergy MIDI Pedal-SYN R5?

Hey All, Does anyone own the SYN R5 MIDI pedal and if so, is it easy to set up and use? I work in the studio only, so I don't need elaborate programming or awesome programmable gear like the Voodoo Lab Hex or GCX, just a simpler way to switch between the modules. I currently have four SYN-2's that I...

Re: SYN 30 Combo IR of creamback cabinet ?

So, who has any IR's for the cabs and combos ??? Celestion offers excellent IR's of each and every speaker, along with every speaker cabinet combo as well as multiple mic options (R121, 421, SM57, etc.). I've linked below to the Creamback 65 and 75 watt versions: https://www.celestionplus.com/produ...

Re: Metroplex, VH4 and another SYN-2

How os the Diezel compared to the SLO? My apologies for the vague description but in the short period of time that I've been able to compare, they're very "different". I could probably dial them in to sound very similar (especially in a mix). But overall, the mids, bass and treble on the Diezel are...

Metroplex, VH4 and another SYN-2

I picked up another SYN-2 today along with a Metroplex and VH4 late this afternoon and I've only had about 30 minutes to run through both modules but once I get them dialed in, I'll post some clips. First impressions: The VH4 is just outright awesome. I mean, good grief, what a tone machine! I can d...

Synergy SLO, HBE & ENGL Savage Clips

Hey Guys, I had a little time today to record the HBE, Savage and SLO modules using the SYN-2 preamp. The signal chain is as follows: Les Paul Custom w/Burstbucker Pro>SYN-2 Preamp>Vintech X73>FMR PBC-6A>MOTU 828es>Cubase 10>ReCabinet 5. No external EQ or EQ in the DAW. I'm using the Celestion IR's ...

Re: BB/BE, OS and Savage modules in stock at Sweetwater

I picked up the Syn-2 and an HBE today from the Synergy warehouse near downtown LA. My first impression is that the Syn-2 is freaking awesome! There's more "depth", for lack of a better word, when using the Synergy modules in the preamp than in my RM100. Although I was surprised at the lack of Densi...

Re: BB/BE, OS and Savage modules in stock at Sweetwater

Congratulations, Mike! Of all the Synergy mods, I like the HBE the best. An SLO just arrived yesterday, so I'm looking forward to checking it out. Thanks, Pete! I just placed an order for a Synergy 2 and I'm really looking forward to hearing the new S modules with it as opposed to the RM100. I purc...

Re: BB/BE, OS and Savage modules in stock at Sweetwater

No, it effects the tone a bit too. It effects the feel in part by acting as a high-pass filter as well as whatever else it does; fender/setting-1 doesn't filter any low end, boutique/setting-3 filters a bit out, and marshall/setting-2 seems to filter the most bass out. with the HBE set to its "corr...

Re: BB/BE, OS and Savage modules in stock at Sweetwater

I'd never heard of a Cathode Switch before this thread. After doing a little reading, most indicated that the cathode switch affects the feel - the sag, lag, squishiness - and not the tone.

Is that correct?

Also, I love the Soldano and ENGL so much that I ordered an HBE. I'm loading up! :)

Re: BB/BE, OS and Savage modules in stock at Sweetwater

I received a Soldano SLO last night and just had a chance to plug it in. Saying "Wow!!!" is an understatement. Whether it's with a Charvel (JB/Jazz) or a Fender Custom Shop Mary Kay Strat, this amp just sings! It's soooo smooth, especially on the top end. I haven't tried it will full-on gain just ye...

Re: Is there a more active forum?

I haven't been active the past few years for reasons well beyond the Randall MTS series, which I'm still using on a daily basis. Kids, health issues, the loss of my beloved Yellow Labs last year, life and work have all contributed to my absence. I'm hoping to post more frequently, especially as more...

Re: BB/BE, OS and Savage modules in stock at Sweetwater

It is a manual switch, so it depends on what modules you have in the RM100. If all three are Marshall based, then no. If you have one Fender, Soldano and Marshall then you will have to change the switch to get the same response as the Synergy heads. Synergy amps + Synergy modules = automatic Randal...

Re: BB/BE, OS and Savage modules in stock at Sweetwater

Your most cost effective option will be to have a cathode bias switch installed on your RM100, or have the stock cathode bias set to whichever Synergy setting you are most likely to use. Thanks for the info! Is the cathode bias switch something that I'd have to change with each module on the RM100?...
