You can use "tube preamp" model in the Axe and just leave all the preamp controls at default. This is a neutral preamp-tonally and gain wise, along with a power amp sim that you can tweak to your hearts desire-change tubes, sag, negative feedback, etc.
It works great with the modular system.

NEED An Egnater dual VX Module ASAP!!!!

Hey all...

In need of a dual channel Egnater VX module as some POS stole my M4 and some modules from the storage facility. Need it as soon as humanly possible--I live on this mod for gigs and studio. If you have one you can part with, please PM he or email at sr1215 at ameritech dot net

Thanks!!!

Just curious... If the module you sent to Big Daddy was ok when you sent it to him, why would you have any issue at all taking it back and issuing a refund? It's your ( the seller's) responsibility to make sure the end user has what they paid for, not the buyers responsibility. You made the money, t...

So..... technically, Seynour Duncan had the first production modular amp back in the late 80's http://www.diyguitarist.com/GuitarAmps/Convert.htm Bruce Egnater revisited this idea, refined it and made it sound better. It was patented and licensed to Randall as well as being produced by Egnater amps....

I'm running a 100watt Lynchbox down two tubes as a 50 watter. I suppose that might also affect the tone. Got it set to 1/2 the actual cab impedance? What output tubes? What speakers? These things will have a bigger impact on perceived bright/darkness of the sound than any preamp tube ever will. JJ'...

I've been running modules in parallel for a couple years. I run my M4 as main tone and also have either my Mod 100 or Mod 50 running with an additional module. I will say that not everything works together...There are phase issues between certain modules for various reasons--gain stages, eq, but som...

I just wanted to drop my $.02 on the power tubes...If you're going for the true JCM800 tone, you gotta use EL34s...I find, even at very low volumes, they sound much more authentic Marshall tone than a 6L6 or 6550...6CA7s are acceptable middle ground as well... What I don't understand is why people ...

Agreed. Have run them for years without issue. Had more trouble with EL34s. Never have blown a TS 5881

Re: Preamp tubes for RM-4?

So I've been thinking about this alot lately, but what 3 preamp tubes does everyone use in their RM4? I'm trying to get a smoother tone, with not so much edge or aggresive gain, and I'm going to be swapping out tubes in the modules soon as well. I just want to cover all my grounds. What would every...
