It's called the E2....and in addition to the features already mentioned..you can of course use it completely transaparently with another amps FX loop...I believe the switching is included to do that... A more cost effective way and flexible to get Egnater Modular tones...sweet The E2 chassis the sa...

Tough choice! The 1086 and the Ultra XL are my fav High gain (The only one I haven't tried is XTC and the signatures) modules.

Which to Keep? Egnater single Twin or Randall Blackface.

I never thought I'd be asking this, but I am truly torn here. Not too long ago I acquired an Egnater Single Twin Module. For a couple years I've had one of the original Blackfaces which was slightly modded to be "Correct" per Bruce Egnater. The Black stripe ones should be equivalent to what I have f...

Yup, Dark Syrupy and smokey!

I think it's a niche module, but it's a great niche!

Haven't brought myself to get rid of mine.

Re: Modded 1086

Took a 1086 that was intermittent, fixed it (read post below) and did my clarity warmth mods. Made a nice difference, then I added two more controls: 1) push/pull knob on gain, that selects between stock C3 cap and .0047 value to give it more warmth and low end for solos. Works great! 2) push/pull ...

Thanks kc2eeb,

That gives me a great starting point regarding the Gain and Tone and how the caps work.

Is there any info regarding which cap affects what? I've seen a schematic, though my skills for that are minimal.

What does C7 & C13 do?

I know they can be used to get a little more gain cookin, but is that all they do? Do they affect EQ of the module at all? I'm guessing C7 affects V1 of the module, and C13 affects V2 of the module. Am I on track? Sometimes I've noticed adding or deleting caps here can make a nice difference for gai...

It appears it was a bad pot. The old one didn't even measure! I put in a test pot and the module appears to work. Thanks to Bruce for his assistance. Now all I need is a replacement so I can put in the proper pot. Mouser sells replacement pots - be sure and get one for a PCB, and I *think* they are...

Update: I put shortplate tubes in there and they DO glow, the long plates I had in before were just hiding the fact. So I don't think it's a tube problem. However there is still VERY low sound. If I CRANK the amp I can hear the guitar ever so slightly and the tone knobs work. The only knob that does...

Broken Module. Help!

Hey guys, I need a little help. I received a single channel TWIN module today (Merry XMAS to me!) that doesn't work. It will pass signal if I crank the amp, all the knobs appears to work, except for one thing. The tubes do NOT glow, they seem to be getting some juice because they get slightly warm, ...
