Re: Salvation - recent user experiences?

Most of the mods I have, regardless of modder, I got off the classifieds here or an auction site or the fb page. It’s more of a fishing trip, but I guess the thrill is in the hunt sometimes. Some mods I was glad I didn’t pay full price, while there were a few I would pay full price a second time wit...

Re: Salvation - recent user experiences?

Forum member mattfig runs motorcitymods. He isn’t on here much anymore since the board isn’t that active. Anyways, my last order with them was about two years ago. Motorcitymods is the American distributor of sorts for salvation. They basically handle all the dealing with customs and international s...

Re: SYN50 head "auto sensing" question...

The syn 1 and 2 have the auto sensing, as well as the combos. The 5050 does not because it is a pure power amp.

Rob with jaded faith does have a mod to the Randall amps that is similar to the auto sensing. However, it is a 3 way switch on front that must be manually selected.

Re: Foglifter... Can I install it?

I don’t think he checks this forum a lot because it isn’t very active anymore. But to answer your question, yes. I bought one from him and installed it with no problems (it used to include instructions). It is the cheapest improvement and very cheap considering how much better it sounds. Now, that i...

Re: No bias reading rm50

Spencer brings up a good point. Anyways, with the amp not on standby and the master all the way down, if the tubes aren’t red plating, you should be ok to play with your multimeter for a few minutes and rule that out. As long as the speaker is connected and the amp all the way down, it won’t let the...

Re: Camerock vs Camerica

I had the same experience with the camerica and that is the same reason I had to let it go.

I think somebody somewhere said it had to do with the diode clipping the camerica uses. I got tired of trying to make it play nice considering there are so many other modules out there.

Re: No bias reading rm50

They are inside the amp. Based on your response, I would say take it to a tech. I don’t know your skill set and wouldn’t want something bad to happen. It would probably be a $50 fix. Don’t mean to discount you in any way, electricity is invisible, so the risks aren’t apparent. Mattfig with motorcity...

Re: No bias reading rm50

There are some internal fuses on the
RM50s that you can only check with the chassis out.

I think you may have blown an internal 100mA fuse (F3 maybe) on the bias circuit only.

A decent tech should be able to replace it, or you can if you are knowledgeable about the dangers inside a tube amp.

Re: Is there a more active forum?

The Facebook page does have more movement, but it isn’t an overwhelming amount. Honestly, considering they have new products, I still expect more. Just to me, a lot goes back to the niche nature of the modular thing, not to mention the cost of modules, etc. compared to lunch box amps or some ‘comput...

Re: Is there a more active forum?

It is all unusually quiet, not just this forum or FB.

eBay and reverb have less and less modular stuff on them. I noticed the trend about 6 months ago and figured it was a dry spell.

Egnater dual module question (newbie)

I joined this mts world during the Randall era, and I didn’t get into duals until I had a synergy syn1. Picked up a few of the older egnater dual modules and have a few questions that I can’t easily find the answer to. The BRIGHT and BASS BOOST switches in basic terms: 1) Are they ‘global’ to both c...

Missed the part of the op that asked about Mesas in general. MarkUS is great and sounded Mark II ish to me. Had one but ended up getting a JF mark x that sounded more like my Mark iv. The mark x actually replaced the real Mark IV I owned. The JF MKC is more of the mark II sound to me (had it too, bu...
