Here you go. Gut shot of Egnater SL++ BIG thanks man! Here's the differences I see with the SL+: -load(?) resistor r21, r27 instead of blank. -diode and cap in place of r1, r3.(WISH I could see the traces underneath!, Looks like my Eggie SL is the same thing) -R2, OP3 does not exist on Eggie -opchi...

I know what you mean. I've been DYING to see an single channel SL2 (Randall SL+) forever! Bruce told me they were close, but I never got details. The biggest difference I see in my Egnater SL Module is the Carbon Comp Resistors. They're used throughout. The caps are nicer, and the opamps appear diff...

Well, your welcomed to try. But I honestly think there is more to the tone difference than the circuit board layout. Obviously the Grail and Recto will have VERY similar layouts, because they are both *trying* to be Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifiers. I'm fairly sure that one of the components is differen...

All I could tell you is, if all it took to change the recto mod to sound like the Grail was to switch out C3, R1, R2, and R3; not only would everyone do it, but they would be praising the Recto as one of the better modules POST soldering operation. Well that's kind of what we were thinking. Really ...

well, its true that almost all of the modules feature VERY similar layouts and construction; The Recto and Grail are similar in the same way all Randall MTS mods are similar. But different enough for it to be difficult for the layperson to MOD a Recto to Grail specs. Although, I suppose it is techn...

Hi, could you qualify this statement with an explanation?

Outside of the faceplate, I can't see how it's not considering a group of us matched it up part for part not too long ago.

hmmm no offense to Smickers, but this sounds kinda fishy to me. First step outside of paypal is to get the IP these posts originated from (Should be logged) and then check the ISP if it traces back to said "Cyber Cafe". Cause if it doesn't, you've all been had and this guy's lying. Smickers, what's ...

They sure bug me also, At first i thought that the differences where those 4 fatter caps, but it doesn't seem to be the case. Nothing prevents you to try 0.033uF though .... or change that R31 for a 33k or a 56k, this will also have an effect of changing the way the tone stack eq your sound. Changi...

Ok, I'm a dumbass. I found some info on the cap markings (Duh) here: http://www.arar93.dsl.pipex.com/mds975/Content/components01.html So for the the other knuckleheads there you go I guess. So other than 3 resistors and a cap at C3, can that be ALL there is to it? I Mean everyone poops on the Recto ...

NuSkoolTone : I think R5/R6, like Q1 and Q2 are only involved in swicthing circuit as well as R1/R2/R3 that are related to the H11F1 that are Bilateral Analog FET Output Optocoupler that are used in switching the module in or out the audio path between the first preamp stage and the power amp secti...

Shouldn't be too hard if you are able to handle a soldering iron without damaging the part, pcb and injure yourself. If the only difference resumes to C3 it should be pretty stait forward and easy to get the required capacitor and replacing it to make it like the Grail module. Now if C8,C9,C17 and ...

I was wondering how hard it would be to convert a recto to a grail.
That would be killer if for nothing else but to try a grail before buying
one in a sense. Plus if I'm modding from one to the other and they're
sorta close I can come up with my own recipe even.

Ultra-Just too noisy no matter what. Tube changes, running gain lower you name it. Clean-Bland, Boring. Not really a "lemon": Brown-On the fence, I hardly ever use it but haven't decided to part with it yet. It's got like one cool tone, that mid gain burning sustain sorta thang. In the right context...

Re: VHT 2/50/2 VS Randall RT2/50

Steven Latch wrote: What I like about the RTS2/50 is the fact that it allows to switch between an EL34 output and a 6L6 output. I guess you need to have two cabs or at least a stereo cab.
The RT2/50 can do the switching with ONE mono cab too!
