To me the XL is everything the Ultra should have been.

Nice HIGH GAIN sound without the hiss and noise. Granted it's still got some, but the gain to noise ratio is surely acceptable.

IME very tight and heavy.

It is not an extension of the Ultra module.
I'd say he nailed it with this description.

I'll see your question and raise you another.

Do the dual modules also have the mid freq selection switch? Like on the MHG, SL, etc... ?

1 channel vs. 2 channel EGNATER Modules?

Hey there, I have one Eggie module (SL) and I love it. I am considering going to all Egnater. I often see Used Single Egnater Modules, but they often go for the SAME price as used DUAL Channel Egnater Modules! So the question is: Do the Single and Dual channel modules sound the SAME? Better/Worse? I...

I had the ultra. Yeah lots of gain, but lots of noise too.

The ultra XL is everything the ultra should have been IMO.
It's making it's way to my main chunk sound, besting the 1086 (Now going to lead duty)

Sonically I'd say the XL fits between the recto and 1086, but with more gain than either.

I've got an RT2/50. If I were gigging with it, I would def consider putting it in it's own rack. Together with the RM4 is pretty hefty.. Especially come 2-3AM!

Seems like a conflict of interest. Everyone talks about how his own brand of modules sound better. Is he doing something different, or is Randall subing the work out of the country and his are hand built? I think that is prob the case. At one time both. The Randall stuff used to be offshore, but no...

I play at bedroom volumes all the time with it and it sounds fine. I mean there's nothing like moving air, but I still enjoy it.

You could throw in a pair of 6V6's and maybe some EL84's with Yellow jackets to drop the wattage to under 20 watts a side.

Ok, those Mullards are the New Sensor ones.

Which other EL34's did you try before arriving at those?

Thanks guys.

3mile, to be clear you are talking about the GT Mullard right? Not the one from New sensor. What other EL34's did you compare?

6V6 crispy eh? Like ice pick or just too much high end?

Anyone try the 5881's? Curious on those too...
