Re: SYN-50 vs Mod 50 heads

Cool, thanks! Let me know what you think. Seriously contemplating shipping my amp to Rob at Jaded Faith for the 3 way manual cathode bias mod.

Re: Weird distortion on clean

I did some more troubleshooting this afternoon. It looks like the noise was digital clipping in the series effects loop. When I changed out my delay pedal from a TC Electronics Flashback, my other pedal couldn't quite handle the signal, even with an Ebtech Line Level Shifter in the loop. I changed b...

Re: JJ 6V6 in Egnater Mod100

Thanks! I just threw in and biased the JJ's yesterday. Definitely warmer and more saturated than the 6550s, not as stiff and harsh like you said. Will have to try them out at band volumes. The volume control seems to have a slower taper now and not as blazingly loud initially.

Weird distortion on clean

On my Egnater Mod 100, I've been noticing weird distortion on clean modules. When the notes decay, there's a fuzzy buzzing sound. I don't notice it at all with distorted modules, but I can't get any of my clean modules (Loneclean and VX30) to sound right without having them break up. I changed out m...

Re: Stock modules

I second that. The Judge is my favorite stocker, and even rivals my Jaded Faith and Salvation modules. It does classic Marshall and modded Marshall tones in spades! Mr. Scary is great, too, higher gain and more compressed.

Re: SYN-50 vs Mod 50 heads

So, has anyone specifically used the Synergy SLO with the Mod50 or Mod100? I am wondering if you can EQ it to where it will still sound great, since it sounds like the cathode bias is just a shelving for the bass and treble frequencies. Thanks!

PM'd but it only went to my outbox. I will try to resend. I definitely want it, though, thanks!

I'll take if it's in good cosmetic and perfect working condition. Should I send you a private message? Thanks!

Re: Telefunken Tubes

I hadn't actually seen those sold anywhere before. However, they are not at all the same as German Telefunkens. Those are just relabeled JJ tubes. It appears that the only difference between those and regular JJs is that they are cryogenically treated and burned in. The word is that they are the sam...

Re: Back to MTS,GSP1101 /pedal pedals question

I would wonder if your effects loop tube is bad (V2). Also could be a patch cable issue or whatever you're using to power your pedals. I've not had any problems using the Ebtech in the serial loop, maybe some very slight distortion if the module master volume is all the way up (the module master vol...

Re: Back to MTS,GSP1101 /pedal pedals question

Also, what pedals are you using in the loop? Usually you would only use time-based effects (chorus, delay, reverb) or perhaps an EQ. I would put distortion, wah, compression, boost, phaser, and flanger before the amp, as this is the typical set up for those effects. Any of those things might behave ...

Re: Back to MTS,GSP1101 /pedal pedals question

I found that the parallel loop is tricky if you run more than one pedal. The parallel loop is supposed to be for effects that are 100% wet with no dry signal going through. Otherwise, you get weird phasing issues. The problem is, when you use more than one pedal, killing the dry signal on one means ...

Re: Telefunken Tubes

As Telefunkens are long out of production, all of them are vintage. I admit I don't have any personal experience using them, but I am just passing along what I have read on several sites. I have used a bunch of Ei Yugos, which were produced on tooling purchased from Telefunken, however, they are not...

I'm really considering the Judge. I already have a Mr. Scary though. Would you mind sharing how the two compare since you have both? Appreciate it!

Not to hijack this thread, but I am interested in one, too, if anyone else has an extra. Thanks!
