So Fryette's approach and philosophy goes against most of our understanding on power amps/tubes and their overall effect on the tone. If you search his thoughts on the subject, he's gone into it a few times. The gist is the circuit is designed around the tube that it's intended to use; the tube does...

It's very different from the HBE; where the HBE is super compressed and narrow in the frequencies, the DS is open and dynamic with more in the top and bottom but less gain. The DS channel A can dial in a great clean tone.

The RJM Switch Gizmo would be perfect for the SYN-1.

I'm kind of surprised more people haven't taken on this type of mod. Once you got a latching footswitch to work, you could take it to the next level with an external midi function switch and have full midi control like with any other non-midi amp. This dude modded his.. http://mtsforum.grailtone.com...

Where are the volumes set in your modules? What kind of signal are you getting out of the send from your amp?

Are there any downsides to the RT2 50 - I'm thinking about getting one of those rather than a SYN 50/50? :)
It is very heavy! They do sound great! I like my Fryette Two/Fifty/Two better though. The RT2/50 colors the sound more which you may like better.

Are you trying to toggle between three things? The Syn2, amp and the preamp pedal?

On the DS, doesn’t it get to a real clean without turning down guitar volume? Channel A can get a great clean tone to mid gain. Just keep the gain below 10:00 and turn up the volume to compensate. I have the gain set at about 9:00 and the master at about 3:00 with a compressor and it's a nice prist...

The Power Station's power amp section is very transparent as it is intended to not add any color to the power section of the amp it's loading and re-amping. For that reason, it would not be my first choice as a power amp for a Syn2. I think you want some power amp color, granted if your not turning ...

I'm strictly mono. I'd probably run the output of the M4 into my RJM Effect Gizmo, and then use it to switch in any effects I need, then out from there into the power amp. I'm guessing the Master output of the M4 would effectively become the effects send level to the rest of my chain? Yes, exactly....

The thing I had forgotten about is the SYN2 has a stereo FX loop, whereas the (R)M4 is mono. At first this seems important to me, but perhaps it's not? As far as (non-mixer) routing, this just means that w/ the SYN2, your loop would return to it before sending to a stereo amp. With an (R)M4, your l...

Re: Synergy SYN2 or Egnater M4?

I play in a cover band that does primarily 80s-2000s rock/hard rock music, but some older and some newer. I need clean tones, but they probably don't need to be Fender or Vox clean. I also don't need ultra modern high gain. Playing in a cover band? practicality it a must, weight is an important fac...
