The Egnater modules are more expensive because they are dual channel, tend to use better components than stock Randall and they were hand made by Bruce and his family. My dd-20 can be switched to +4db and I have done that. My question is does that switch the input and output or just the output level?( I believe that's the input pad. If you think the MHG is too trebly and compressed you would not like the EG5 at all. For the sounds you describe I recommend the EG3/4. Just call the Amp lounge. I talked to Frank about it and he explained that it was something that the average person could easily install. I believe he said it was about $200. Basically, you can mount it in the back of the amp; just a few screws. It uses the parallel effects loop as has been stated. ...

Although you'll only be able to use one channel of the Egnater modules, you can have them modded to default to the B channel. If you're into that idea, I'd suggest the EG3/4 B channel. Great for solos!
