Anyone else tried the Randall RG50TC yet? (it rocks!!!)

I owned one of these for a long time. I thought it was a great amplifier. I bought to use as the second amp at a jam session I hosted. The Marshall guys loved this thing as did the Mesa guys. I wound up modifying it a bit for my own use. I changed the power tubes to 6L6's and had it rebiased and...

    Hot swapping modules?

you can hot swap 'em, I would just suggest swapping the module that is not engaged for the reasons ned pointed out.

    New owner

also the tubes in each module could be the difference, have you tried swapping positions with the modules? Also, one of the modules could have been modified... Just throwing ideas out there...

High Gain Modules and Midi Questions

NO no no no no, you CANNOT save the settings on the modules MIDI will only change channels on the amplifier, where you have the knobs is how they are going to sound. There is nothing digital or motorized inside the modules themselves. All knob positions and switch positions are seperate from the...

High Gain Modules and Midi Questions

MIDI in the MTS stuff is strictly for channel switching, it does NOT retain any of your settings. If you find you wnat to run two different settings on the same module, pick up a second module and leave it in another channel with the "other" setting. (eg: a tweed running with the gain cranked...

    Can I jam with a RM20B and 2x12?

sure, why not. The more cone surface area you push the more volume you'll get. It seems to me an awful lot of amp companies are putting out 15 to 20 watt heads an combos these days. Go for it!

What do you use to get close to this tone?

Have you guys tried the tweed? That definitely sounds like the low mid spank of the old bassman preamp. There's a ton of amps doing this sound. The old bassman circuit is the basis for the jtm Marshall stuff as well, so the JTM is another good alternative.

Pointless related ramblings to keep the board going strong

There are quite a few guys who love the Top Boost. It's definitely more Brian May than clean until it's modified, but it is VERY cool.

    RM100M1 and RM100M

without a clean module, this probably wouldn't be a great jazz guitar amp the beauty is you can decide which clean you like. Whether it's the "Clean," Blackface, Tweed, JTM, Super V it's up to you. If you do a lot of swing guitar stuff you may really like the Tweed as it emulates the old '50's...

    RM100M1 and RM100M

it's kinda liket he a la carte menu, the channels are sold seperately and no one says they have to be different channels or that you need to use all three. you could use all three 1086's if you want, or just load the XTC and UltraXL if you like and leave the third empty until you find something...

    RM100M and Switching Guitars Live

no problem I also use a tuner for this (I use a TU2, easier to see on stage IMO) added advantage, you can check the tuning in the new guitar before you return to full volume
