I can't help on the individual descriptions as I don't have a SYN2. However, Synergy has a walk-through showing two different methods for hooking up two SYN2s. Connecting it to your amp vs a power amp shouldn't be any different as long as you change "guitar to Input" to "from amp's FX Send"...

The internal selector for Dual/Single mode probably got switched. In the image below, it should be the small switch located behind the larger 3-position cathode select switch. Hope that helps.

I think that's the issue. Randall's power amp is a modern power amp built with the heavys in mind. The Egnater amps are supposedly tweaked more to the vintage side. I think you're best bet is an RM4/M4 and picking a more traditional, classic power amp.
