    WTB: Randall RM100 or RM4 (UK/EU)

I say 'might' because I haven't made up my mind to go single module yet. Right now I'm 'mixing' the Ultra and 1086. There are a lot of phasing problems. What I haven't decided on is whether to try fixing the problems or say screw it and go single mod only. I should know in the next week or...

    Resistor question

The caveat being that small wattage resistors don't dissipate heat as well as larger wattage resistors. This is partly due to larger surface area of the (higher wattage) resistor itself and the fact that most resistors I've seen over one or two watts have built in heatsinks. How would this...

    Resistor question

As long as the power rating (in watts) is high enough to handle the power it won't matter. By 'high enough' I mean to prevent catstrophic meltdown/destruction. In other words, if you were to replace all you 1/2 watt resistors with 5 watt resistors you would not hear a difference in tone. You...

    MTS PICKING UP RADIO ?

Are you using any pedals? Does it do the same thing with your guitar straight into the amp? I tried a Morley ABY switch several month ago and as soon as I turned on my amp, instant radio. I removed the Morley from the signal chain and the radio went away. I also switched all my...

    Considering Pete Mod's???

I've had my SL+ and Recto modules both worked on by Pete. The SL+ went from good to kick a$$ with the voicing switch in either position. His work on it was awesome. Clarity and openess definitely improved. It sounded almost like there was a little more gain on tap even though the actual gain...

    TC Elec. G Major w/ RM100

I use the G-major for parallel f/x only. As has been stated above, all the different f/x are quite tweakable. I don't think I've ever hooked it up in the serial loop so I can't speak to the serial type f/x.

    Holy Crap, unreal feedback.

"Too much gain"? What is this too much gain of which you speak? But seriously, you might actually have the module gain turned up too high. You said you are running a screamer pedal in front of the amp. Keep in mind that the Ultra is called the Ultra for a reason. It has 'ultra' amounts of...

    Randall RM4 with modules suggestions

Welcome Antipolitik! With the 1086 you have decided on, I would add an SL+, an Ultra of some kind, and the Blackface. The SL+ will get you in the neighborhood of Zakk. It's too bad you can't get this module modded by Pete (okstrat here in the forums). He modded mine and it went from 'pretty...

Any way to make a clean module clean?

Sounds like somthing might be wrong with your Blackface. I can crank my gain knob and it never distorts/breaks-up. Did you get your Blackface new or used? Someone may have modded it. Thomas

    DIY: Warmth and Clarity

What are these? More top secret than the Colonel's 11 herbs and spices. But seriously, he puts a lot of time and effort into his designs, so it would be pretty uncool/rude/douchebaggy to post specifics about what he changes. Can they be done at home? Yes What does Pete change? I'd imagine...

    Extreme gain modules

I'm pretty sure the highest gain thing out there is the Ultra series (og/XL/Lead). Those will provide you with all you face melting needs. The low end can be controlled by swapping a single cap. You can do this yourself (if you are good at soldering) or have someone do it for you. If you...

All you High Gain Metal Guys out there

What module(s) you using for your chug? How is module set (eq/gain)? How is amp set (density/presence)? I have an RM50 combo and I get enough chug to rattle my windows when cranked with my Ultra. Also one thing I noticed with my guitar + rig. I recently tuned down from my normal D to Db but...

    Portable Acoustic Treatment Query

I have some of those neoprene pads for my desktop monitors. They help a lot with vibrations. As for the plywood, the neoprene will help, especially if you have a basement, crawl space or are upstairs. The resonance in the plywood I was talking about will happen soley as a result of air...

    Portable Acoustic Treatment Query

If you are trying to save money, call up some local carpet installers and ask if you can have their scraps. Get the padding scraps as well. I've also used that egg crate foam stuff you can find at hobby shops and sometimes fabric stores. Then there are always cheap throw rugs and area rugs...

Any way to make a clean module clean?

I like the Blackface quite a bit more than the Clean. So yeah, in my book you did the right thing. Thomas

Any way to make a clean module clean?

You have a 185 ohm 1% tolerence resistor (I think). You have six colors listed, I'm pretty sure most resistors will have at most five color bands. The first three are the 'digits', the fourth is the multiplier, and the fifth is the tolorence. But I suppose there could be some new fangled 4...

Any way to make a clean module clean?

Go to the Modules/Documented Modifications thread and somewhere in there it will tell you a couple things to look for on the Clean module. I remember when the Cleans first came out they were noisy and hard to get 'clean'. I think there's a resistor you have to change that will take care of it...
