Well I finally got around to modding everything.

C3 - .0047uf to .0022uf orange drop.
C14 - 47pf to 470pf silver mica
R31. - 100k to 47k resistor

All other capacitors polyester capacitors were changed to orange drops as well.

The change in tone is significant. The mid range jumped about 100x higher which to my ears is just too much. I bought a 220pf silver mica and that should cut the mids in half which is probably what I'd like. I might make the R31 back to 100k as well.

Here's some pictures and a clip.

Clip. The first three riffs are stock the last three are modded.

I think right now is sounds pretty good for leads. The module over all has a very thick mid rangy Marshall grit to it. Much different than stock.

Settings:
Gain: Noon
Bass: 3 o clock
Mids: Noon
Treble: 3 o clock
Master on module: Full

Settings were the same before and after the mod. I made sure.

I need some suggestions on what I should probably change to get a more pleasing tone for metal.

I like the rhythms of the stock much better haha. the modded solo thing was better to my ears though.

Got a bit of an update.

Based on the tone calculator this is what is going on.

Yellow is stock.
Red is where I am at.
Green is what I want.

I still need some more clarity and high end. Anyone have suggestions?

Yeah I was recommended 100p for the C14. At one point it was 430p  that didn't sound good at all. I'm also going to move the resistor up to 68k just so I can drop some mids I think.

How about this for a faceplate?

I got a prototype done for it but I realized there were no words/symbols to decipher what knob did what.

I got back to work and this is V2 of the faceplate and will be put on, on Monday. Right now the Mid shift and voice aren't wired up. Hell the voice doesn't even have a toggle yet but just wait. ;)

This thing will be a tone machine!

I got done reworking some more of the tone. It's close to stock at the moment but a lot clearer.

Alright I think I finally got it. It's still too scooped for my tastes but once I add the mid and voice switches I think It'll sound great. It keeps up with the Baron VERY well in stereo. Overall I'm very pleased and can't wait to get it all done on Monday.

Here's a clip of it right now.

Here's some low quality pics of the Faceplate. Much better ones to come tonight.

Here's a little clip of some metal riff I just made up and some chugs. I'll get something better out tonight.

I used Adobe Illustator CS4 to design the whole thing (It came with the whole suite I bought for web design since I'm into all that too.) then I have this sticker paper. I print it out, cut it out, take off the faceplate, lay it on the faceplate, poke holes in it and re mount the faceplate.

Pretty simple actually. And if I want it glossy I just lay good old packaging tape over it and it's got a nice shine.

That's what I did with this one too.

Very cool :) I do some graphic design myself, and have the CS4 Master Suite, so I was thinking it would be fun to do some faceplate designs for giggles. I like the idea of distinctive faceplates so I can tell which module I have selected when I'm playing live, as well as for cool factor hehe

be very careful having orange drops that near the pots, as Nick Pierro (RockStarNick) and I have seen issues w/ oscillation on modules that we had them too close to especially the mids pot. It didn't do it all the time..but man...it became uncontrollable when it did happen.

^ yeah man I'm changing them to Xicons on Monday.

Newest clip!

Alright for the 101st post I have a huge clip. It's of the module so far. I do some explaining of what's going on and the SM57 tells the rest of the story. Take a listen to our long adventure!!!

Clip isn't ready. Dropbox is still loading it...Stay tuned!

I just wanted to say I finished the module a little while ago and here's a clip I did of it. It's my own song called Forgotten Sins. It's only the intro but it's pretty sick.
