:D

Congrats on the Edwards. I have a black one and I love it. It sounds as good as the '81 Gibson LP silverburst I used to own but it actually plays better. BTW, you should consider upgrading the pots, it made a big difference in mine.

Yep I say upgrade the pots.
Swap the bridge pup.
Thats all mine needed to be a fucking kick *** fiddle.

I'll admit I dont know much about pots other that 500's are brighter that 250's. I do have a sweet soldering station on the way though so I'll be willing to experiment.

PUPs....I am intrigued by Bare Knuckle...I have a War Pig and Nail Bomb on the way and I was thinking of getting the calbrated Miracle Mans for my EC1000. Does anyone have any experience with the BK Cold Sweats? I definitely want a deep and fat harmonic rich vintagesque tone with this guitar. I am hoping this guitar and the Stiletto Deuce Series II make for some rich tone.

I would love to hear some opinions on what pots and pups would make good selections with this guitar.

For pots, find some by CTS. They're some of the best pots you can get.

For the guitar: Nice one! I wanna get the snow white custom with gold hardware :D And if you're in America, look up TDM pickups. The ocmpany is based in New Jersey and he makes handmade PAF replicas that are really sweet, and only cost $70 a piece. If you're in the UK though, check out maybe the Black Dog bridge and a neck pickup of your choice.

Actually CTS aren't that great. I mean, it is a pot. Changing them out isn't going to make your guitar sound a whole lot different other than reliability issues. CTS are overpriced in my opinion. No one should have to pay 6 dollars for a piece of metal and plastic that small.

Try some bourns here-

Oh and on the Bareknuckles I think the Cold Sweat is more Djenty than anything. Lots of highs and mids. The miracle man is just awesome. Great low mids and has a warmth that isn't muddy. I really loved playing that pickup. Right now I'm also looking at these too that were in another thread-

I was under the impression that CTS pots had brass or copper contacts, not plastic (which is what the stock Gibson pots have)?

If you always dime your guitar's volume then changing pots isn't going to do anything for you. (Unless the pots are so bad you aren't getting 100% volume.)

I like to roll back the volume on my Edwards LP but the factory pots had a rough taper (jumps in volume) making it hard to dial in the sound I wanted. I got so annoyed with them that I replaced them with the best pots I could find. RS Superpots are absurdly expensive, but they have the smoothest taper I've ever used.

Shinozoku, looks like you're right about the plastic wiper in the Gibson CTS pots:

BTW, nice Marshall!

Yes, but there's still plastic on the CTS pots.

I've tested both the Bourns and the CTS and honestly I liked the Bourns more. I haven't tried that RS Guitarworks 500k SuperPot though.

I just find it ridicolous that people pay so much for something that costs these companies next to nothing.

Another tidbit-

Don't bother with RS versions as you can get the same speck from Allparts for less.

If you really want to go all out try the military spec pots.
