Guys,
I'm new at this and I need a bit of education.
So Egnater has a modular system and Randall does too.
Randall and Egnater both worked on these together
and all of the modules are compatible with both systems?
But the different amps that they fit in to have different tubes,
electronics, etc. allowing each amp to have it's own flavor.
So a Lynch Box and an RM100 will sound very differnt?
Are there any features or modules that are not cross compatible
to all amps? For example, a new Lynch Box module doesn't
work with the Egnator amp or certain Egnater modules won't
work with certain Randall amps?
Is there a document somewhere that breakes down the differences
between each compatible module and amp?
Have you found modules that sound great in one amp, but not
in another?
I got to spend about 5 minutes playing through a Lynch Box stack at NAMM and I was blown away. It really sounded amazing. But I didn't
get a chance to play any of the other MTS models or the Egnater amps.
Thanks for any feedback.
Jace

The Dual channel Egnater modules will work in the Randall stuff, but you only get the first channel. Other then that...everything is pretty much interchangable.

Thanks for the feedback.
So with the dual channel Engnater systems, can you access
both channels of the module via MIDI patch change?
For example, from my MIDI floor controller I could access preset 1
which uses ch 1 of the module, while preset 2 would access ch 2 of the module?
Cheers,
Jace

No, there is absolutely no difference between a LB and a RM100 other than the modules that come standard.

No, other than the Eggies come with dual channel modules

All modules work with all amps (Randall and Eggie). Only the first channel on a dual channel Eggie will work with the Randalls.

Also each amp will take EL34's, E34L's, 6L6 and 6V6 along with KT88s.

Thanks for all of that.
So the Lynch Box just has it's own "look."
Are the electronics in the MTS combo amps much the same as well?
As far has having demo units in the store, will switching modules
in and out all day cause any problems? Will these things hold up?
What is the procedure for swapping modules? Do you have to shut
the amp down completely, wait 30 seconds, etc?
Will it cause any problems if someone powers up an amp with out
any modules installed?
Concerning the RT2/50 power amp, is there any noticable noise when you switch between channel A and B? I remember that my Mesa Boogie 2:90 power amp had different modes, but there was always a thump or click when those modes were engaged.
Thanks again,
Jace

I cant speak for the Randall stuff, but I have an Egnater head. There is no pops or noise when switching channels and also no delay you sometimes get with bad MIDI implementations.

My manual says the amp needs to be switched off to switch out modules. You can run the amp with blank slots though.

One thing to note: The components and build construction of the Egnater stuff is supposedly much better than the Randall. People have reported getting new Randalls out of the box without power tubes and/or with tolex not completely glued on. The Egnater stuff is built like a tank to withstand a nuclear explosion.

Egnater's quality control and customer service is absolutely top notch, their build quality is much better as well. There is no comparison, if you need bulletproof reliable stuff...go with Egnater.

Just put the amp in standby then switch modules.

Combo's and heads are the same.

Right, I think the Randall fifty watters don't have midi. My Randall RM 50 HB head has no midi. Remember, however that the EGNATER MOD 50 head (and I would assume logically the combo) does have midi.

If you want to switch the Randall 50 watters with midi either an Axess GRX4 or CFX4 will do the trick. I currently use the 4th loop on my GRX4 to channel switch my RM50 head.

That's what I've been doing....glad to hear it's okay. I never really thought about this much until now.
