I'm thinking of replacing the Peavey Sheffield 1290 that came in my combo (I bought the amp used), and the WGS Retro 30 looks like it might be a good option. I need something with a tight low end and plenty of edge for hard rock and metal.

Has anyone here used this speaker, and, if so, what did you think?

I considered the Veteran but was concerned about the 60-watt rating, since I'm running KT88s.
 
I went ahead and took a chance on this thing, and I couldn't be happier. While it still needs some break-in time, I can already tell it's tighter, more articulate, and smoother on the top end than either the Peavey my amp came with or the Celestions I've heard in other rigs. If you're looking for a good rock/metal speaker for a single 12" application, I recommend you check it out.
