Some advice from a long-time eBay seller. Here are some keywords you should include in your auction title and how they affect your starting price:

Fair Market Value: $100

Include the word “RARE” $125
True Meaning: Fortunately for all of us, not many of these guitars were made.

Include the word “VINTAGE” $140
True Meaning: This guitar is more than a year old.

Include the word “COLLECTIBLE” $155
True Meaning: It’s collecting dust because it has a 5/8 inch action.

Include the word “CUSTOM” $175
True Meaning: This guitar was improved using parts from a Kirby vacuum cleaner.

Include any of the words “VERY, HIGHLY, SUPER” $195
True Meaning: Auction titles can be 50 letters and I had some to spare.

Include the words “LIMITED TIME OFFER” $210
True Meaning: Rent is due so I’ve got to move this highly collectible vintage classic.

Include the word “INCREDIBLE” $240
True meaning: Incredible is another word for “unbelievable”. I don’t believe anyone would pay this much for a piece of junk.
