I love the way the Kerry King Signature Marshall sounds. Having the Classic ballsy JCM800 with KT88's, then the ultra violent 'Beast' switch gave it a whole different EQ setting. It wasn't just a boost, like a TS9, or an extra gain stage. It actually felt like adding a TS9 + an MXR 10-Band EQ that was honestly one of the most unique sounds I've come across!

Reckon it could be done in a module?

Rob at Jaded Faith made one. I think Hamner had it?? It was a single module with a switch for 2 different amps.. http://mtsforum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?t=15884&highlight=beast

I did do a custom one-off a while back that emulated this amp. The main focus was on the preamp and giving an effect similar to what the Beast Mode does. Truly approximating the Beast Mode would require a second PCB about the same size as the module itself and a voltage tap the modules do not have available.

So in short, you can get in the ballpark but you can't clone it.

This is true. When I went to the dual platform I sold it to marinebassplayer. As Rob said not exact, but dang close. I think I could have gotten closer if I would have been using KT88 tubes. I also seem to recall Rob made a dedicated Beast mod not too long ago.
