Well here's my first take on a Dirty Shirley mod. So far sounds killer, and super fun/inspiring to play

All values are pretty close to a actual Dirty Shirley with the exception of 0.47uf bypass caps, all I have on hand ATM are 0.68uf so got some on order. At any rate It still sounds killer.

I'll keep the progress posted.

That's a great name, might even like it better than the Shirley..lol \m/

You're using a Modern, Dave F. told me to send him a Plexi once when I asked about his mod....I have a modded Top Boost.....

can I use this for the DS mod?

Of course, I can only follow directions and cannot do something like this on my own, so I'd be relying on your input...

thanks

Yes you can use a top boost. Remove the tubes and take a nice picture from the top, so I can read the resistor bands. I'll annotate the changes for you on the image.

Thanks, I figured it fit right in with the likes of pink taco, and brown eye :)

That's great, I really appreciate it. This is a Top Boost that was modded by a guy on ebay. It;s not bad but just isn't that Vox flavor That I want.

Let me know if this picture needs to be redone

Yeah, I can work with this.

wow, thanks very much for that. I think I understand most of it at first look. I'll create a buy list and get going soon. I hope you won't mind a few further questions as I take a deeper look

Really great of you, thanks again

I suggest you get mallory (CDE now) 150 caps, they should sound better in this circuit.

here's where you can get the 250k pot if you dont have one:

1w resistors? metal oxide, carbon??

I stockpile 1w carbon film because I build, and mod p2p amps, so thats what I have on hand. You're pretty much guaranteed they will work fine and be overrated in most cases. For these MTS modules you don't need anything over 1/2w. Metal film is good too, they are less hissy, but not that noticeable.

BTW if anyone is interested you can buy the synergy branded caps
SRM_Caps.jpg

These are what will be used in the upcoming synergy modules/amps, and I think Friedman began using in his amps. I'm 99.9% positive they are SoZo nex gens.

Can get them from Valvestorm:
