My backup rig consists of just a Hotone Mojo Attack pedal. You can get them used for $150. You can drive a cabinet with it and/or run direct to a PA.
You would be surprised how good it sounds for solid state. The one channel is a Fender clean and the other is a Mesa Dual Rectifier. It also has an onboard boost and a pretty decent reverb.
It's light and small and simple. Just plug and play. To me, it's the perfect emergency rig. So far, I haven't had to use it though!
There's a lot of good demos out there, so check it out. Believe me, I'm a total tone snob, and this thing actually sounds pretty **** good.
