MIDI part 2

Post by wesman11483 » Sun Jul 16, 2017 7:07 pm

Hey all...got dune GREAT advice last time for incorporating MIDI into my rig. As most of us are so prone to do, I'm tweaking it...but actually paring it down...
I have an 8 button MIDI switch (3 banks of 8)...I want to use it to run my RM4 and my H9. Here's the rub: H9 is 5 pin. I have an adapter cable with phantom power for the footswitch already...so qoukd it be best to
A) go MIDI in to RM4, then thru to H9 using the 7 to 5 cable (minus the power) or
B) go MIDI in to H9 and then thru to RM4 with a 5 pin cable? What would I be losing?

Thanks in advance!

The only difference between a 5 and a 7 pin midi cable is the power - if you dont need the power then use a 5 pin cable.

If you're phantom powering the controller with the RM4, then go with option A.

Thanks guys.
Got it all wired up, but being MIDI slow is coming up again...seems a reprogram us needed.
Anybody have experience using the RM4 and H9 together with one controller?
