Solo'ed guitars have NO EQ. Mix guitars have same EQ applied to both mixes. The riff guitar is the Dumble OD module in the rm50 combo with a few effects. I adjusted EQ and gain on each amp to match tones as closely as possible. They're not perfect, but it gives you a good idea of what can be done with a measley $350 amp...

This is a repost from another thread. I just put it here so less digging is needed.

very cool, the salvo may actually sound a little clearer! Either tone sounds good, well done

Oh. Forgot to say, the beginning of the Bogner clips had some f-ups on my behalf with regard to muting between chords. The truer tone is heard a little later, but yes, the Salvo is a little clearer in the tightness department. I think the Bogner has a little more depth, but it's really hard to tell in the mix.

Sounds like their in the ballpark of each other, very very close, not identical to me. The actual Bogner had a little more chew it seemed like. But thats not type of music Id play with a Bogner so its hard for me to tell in the characteristics I like about Bogners.

I prefer the Salvo sound, but if you mixed the labels I would be fucked. LOL. WOW. It's really close. I had a similar "wow" moment a while back when someone did a comparison of the Mamba to the Cobra. While not completely identical down to the most minute nuance, the voicing is spot on. For the tones to be that close is a monumental success in my book! Seriously, even identical twins are still quite a bit different. It brings a whole new edge to the term "Clone Mod". Good job, wesarvin. Thanks for posting those clips. Fun stuff. :D

We also need to note that my Bogner was on the Red channel with gain at noon. The Salvo module was with the gain at about 10 o clock.

While it can back the gain down a bit, the 2nd gen Salvation can't match that woody blue channel. The Shiver mode is cool, but different in its own respect. For what I've been using it for lately, it completely nails those tones.

I think the Salvo sounds better....just sounds alot cleaner...funny because Im sure if you asked people to chose they would think the actual ogner was teh module Im sure.........just goes to show for alot less you can have something that sounds better than the Bogner......not the first time Ive heard this thouogh...Ive heard clips of the Mamba and S1SO that sound alot better then the real deal......

Just got one of these older Salvo Xtacy's and it is unreal how close it is to the real thing. Shiver switch is cool! Like having another amp available! (Shiva/Marshally type killer tone and bite)

iTunes. The band is called My Side of the Story.

Thanks for the kind words. I'll be sure to let them know. This clip was a snippet of their newer stuff. It'll probably drop around summer.

I wish I knew. It's much less grainy than the XTC mode, but still has the same flavor as far as tonal voicing goes. If I had a real Shiva to compare it to, then I could tell ya. However, it definitely gets into the same ballpark as Shiva clips on YouTube.

Great playing!! Have you tried using the Bogner power section as a power amp for the salvation module? Hence comparing just the preamps?

Hope you don't mind me linking to great post in this thread;

Yes, but the tonal difference isn't as much as I'd imagine. In fact, the Bogner is listed on Feebay right now with about two days to go.

Sounds great Wes, I cant tell the difference really. Money well spent on MTS. Is the band still around? The mix sounded cool, do ya'll play out around Houston?

They were all high school kids. They're in college now, and starting a different project. I can keep you informed of what's going on with them. They're now called The Coordinates.
