Hey guys. Can anyone recomend some 6l6 tubes too put into the mts 100? Like some tubes have 6l6 s. Or 6l6 r or 6l6 str 440? Just want too put the four 6l6s in. And bias it myself. A good brand that can recomend? And when i replace the 12 ax7 ones the v1 v2 v3 ones do i just put them in ? Or do i need too bias them? Or have someone do it ? Also what are some recomended 12 ax7 pre amp brand tubes or combinations of diffrent pre amp tubes. I like a mesa recto american sound compared to the british sound. Im new to the aspect of this awesome amp. Any advice would be much appreciated. I currently have jjs tubes el34s.

Electro-Harmonix 6L6s are my preference as well as 6AC7s of the same make. I had a cool mix of EH 6L6s and JJEL34s in a 100 and it was great. Bias yourself. It isn't that hard with the bias points right on the back of the amp.

Someone jump in if I'm wrong, but I've never heard of biasing preamp tubes. I don't think that's an option. The best way to change the preamp tubes gain is to swap for a softer tube (like a 12AT7 from a 12AX7.)

Here is a chart that indicates what preamp tubes can be easily swapped:

http://cydathria.com/fdm/12AX7_sub.html (the 5751 is a military designation in case that difference is confusing.) Also this isn't all the preamp tube options.
Try reading up here (good source for brands and types.):

You are correct - no bias needed (or possible) with preamp tubes - feel free to swap to your hearts desire!

I'm partial to TAD 6L6s, WGCs for cleans and GCs for dirt. Pre-amps don't require bias but your outputs do. Easy peasy with one of those probe things and a multimeter.
