Using 6550 in a RM100

Post by DonP » Sun Mar 10, 2019 8:34 am

The 6550 has a large base that doesn't fit in the tube retainer/clamp.

How do you deal with the tube retainers? Do you just smash it down? Or do they need to be removed?

Thanks.

BTW, I have a Lynch head, and in old mags he used to talk about using 6550's. I have a set just gathering dust, so why not?

Currently I'm running two EL34 and two E34L (or EL34L can't remember).

Looking for more bottom end at lower volumes.

Remove them and put the screws back in.

Yeah I had to remove them when I tried 6550's.

I liked the 6CA7's for more bottom with the EL34 vibe.

Thanks. Glad I didn't just smash the clamps down LOL.

These 6550s are gathering dust. The RM100 is the only amp I have that can use them.
