Hey all again. I was wondering is it worth saving for a 4x12 to go with my rm50 or can i just use a 2x12 on stage and still achieve a big sound?

I'm looking in to:
Vader Cabs
Avatar
and Mesas.

I play metal, hardcore, and some blues but mostly the first two.

Alright so that's good to know i can save money by just getting a 2x12. Also in my band i play with another guitarist who has a B52 and it goes to a 4x12 cab, i can hear my amp but would the 2x12 make a significant difference since all im playing though now is 1 speaker?

You should hear some difference at lower volumes. With a 4x12 you have more surface area that moves air. It's not really louder than a 2x12 but it will seem like it.

The tone between a 2x12 and 4x12 with the same speakers would be surprisingly different...especially live. The 2x12 would not project as well. Also, the cab is smaller so it wouldn't be as boomy. The tone would pretty much similar but if u went with a 2x12, would definitely raise it up.

Also, from experience nothing beats a mesa cab. But you would paying ALOT for one..even used : /

IMO nothing sounds and feels better than a wall of paper cones rippin behind you! Go for the 4x12.

A 4x12 FEELS better, but my 2x12 Vader made a 4x12 junkie almost cream his pants when he borrowed it :p might want the 4x12 for projection though.

Mesa for a 4x12 (get one used for like $500)
Vader for a 2x12.

You can always have a 4x12 cabinet custom made for you. Theres a guy on ebay that sales just the cabs dirt cheap, but well made. All you have to do is buy speakers. Choose what brand you like (mesa, Vater, Avatar) find the dimesions of the cab and send it to Jesus, and he'll make it for you. A buddie of mine did the same and sent the dimesions for a randall 2x12 cabinet, and the results were astonishing, couldn't tell the difference.

Heres the link and the guys name is jesus, based out of California:
