Having just picked up a Zoom Q3HD, I decided to throw together a quick vid showcasing (I hope) the Friedman HBE. It's my first foray into the exciting world of Web video, so please excuse the, er, "unorthodox" cinematography.

Thanks, guys. Looking back at this, I'm not sure why I put it the Signature Mods section. If someone knows how to move it over to Rigs & Tones, feel free.

I should have vids for some of my modules ready in the not-too-distant future. I'll try to minimize the hairy-calf porn in those.

Someone has been watching Batio's SPEED KILLZ volume I from the 80's .... 8) Your chops kill but seriously, you are allowed to slow down every now and again and let the notes breathe. I was hoping to hear more of the module but instead I got hit with a pinball machine lol. Sounds good from what I can hear in the parts you play rythm on though!!!

PS- nice vibrato too!

Shred that **** thing to death already.... What's your secret? Let me guess, it's got to be the socks. Man I got to get me some of those socks!!!

WOOOOOOO....WOOOOOOOO.....
I'm sorry Brewtus, you are under arrest for unlawful use of a footwear related pun.

I think I need to get a 24oz rockstar downed so I can keep up.
Hey if you can fly like that then why not. Mod tone was pretty good as well. Had me thinking Judge/GTO tone.

Thanks. I haven't played a Judge, but considering that they're both Friedman designs, the comparison makes sense.

The HBE is a pretty straightforward mod, but it sounds great and really seems to work well with my playing style. The relative lack of bass gives it plenty of cut and keeps it from getting mushy at higher gain settings. There's also a noticeable amount of compression, which helps with the "shreddier" stuff.

As an aside, I'm wondering how similar it is to The Nuts, which seems to be aimed at a similar tonal target.

I'm itchin to see inside one of those HBE mods... can you at the very least say whether or not he just populates the PCB in a piggie back fashion or does he wire stuff in like JF and the others do? Is there a lot of point to point stuff or just straight up using the PCB? I have my modded brahma right where it sounds like a brighter scary but compression i think i could use for leads. It needs some chewiness..

I know approximately as much about electronics as I do about nuclear physics (which is to say, nothing), but I'm not seeing all the extraneous wires and things that some of the other modules have. If I had to guess, I'd say it's more of a rework of the original board.

Thanks for the info.. i was just really curious. My spider senses tell me that his HBE is a tweaked scary by the sounds of it..only soo much you can do with these modules and stock pcb. Also, the use of orange drops probably gives these modules some bite..
