I know that the 1959RR custom has the 2/3 gain stage switch option and is sometimes referred to the #39 option. Is that the same as the Brahma #39 sound? Does that essentially cover the same territory?

I like both modules and was almost persuaded to get the 1959RR custom, then I heard the Brahma #39 gets more of the AFD/brown sound tone. If the 1959RR custom has the 2/3 (#39) switch, can I assume it covers that territory as well?

They do share a common feature, however they are tuned quite differently. The 59RR Custom will clean up much better, has more bite and is less thick. The Brahma #39 is more geared for gain and has a smoother thickness to it. It's closer to the "Brown Sound" than the 59RR Custom is, doing one thing but doing it very well. The 59RR Custom is the "do-it-all" Marshall choice with a huge range of tones in it.

Hope that helps!
