1086 - converting mid switch to bright switch - possible?

No. It would require cutting traces and running wires and components. It would be easier to convert the gain switch to a bright and hard wire it on the + side of that switch.
 
thanks for the quick answer! i keep the 1086 on low gain, and use the gain switch for slayer mode, so i'd like to keep it that way.

would replacing the caps go towards any other EQ possibilities other than scooping out the mids? the switch is going unused, and i'd like it to pull its weight, so to speak. :lol:
 
No, it's only wired to add a cap in series with the treble cap of the tone stack. You can change these caps for varying results, but it's going to do the same thing unless it's rewired for another purpose.
