Hi All
I have noticed something peculiar about my RM amps. I have an RM100 head and combo and an RM50 combo. I have noticed with all three of them that as I get the volume up into the "loud" range - say 10 or 11 o'clock - that they start to emit a burning electronics kind of smell.
  • I never bias above 70% dissipation for any tubes I use, and I'm not seeing red plates or anything like that.
None of the amps or tubes are new.
The smell freaks me out and I back down the volume and the smell goes away over time.
Is this normal for these amps? Anybody have an explanation? I've wondered if this smell might be common in PCB amps but the fan in the RM amps just kinda spreads it around better.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.
