MIDI (short for Musical Instrument Digital Interface) is a connection that allows the transmition of musical data. It DOES NOT tranmit actual audio ( like a Microphone to a mixer line in); its only used to transmit data or allow devices to "talk"

Midi can be used with sequencers - Or it could be used to control Audio Devices. In the Case of the MTS series, midi can be used to change channel information; so If you have a midi device, you can technically set it up to switch between channels. Not to sure about additional details though, I don't have a MTS amp yet :D - Hopefully that will change.
