Will the RM4 4 button switch work with the 3 channel heads? I'm guessing they will since both are midi... and do they require anything other than the midi cable to the head (a footswitch power supply)?

The RF4 footswitch needs an external power supply and a Midi Cable, don't know if it will work with an RM 100 head though

I was hoping it would since they are all midi... would be easier to 'upgrade' later if that's the case. I sure don't want a huge surfboard midi pedal right now!

You could email Randall or Bruce Egnater and get the definative answer. My guess is that it would work
