mine starts up with the patch i last used.tce gmagors can be touchy and there are also some defective units out there. i bought one from ebay some months ago and i thought it was broken because it showed only flashing lights the first time i turned it on. not sure why but it started working and has been perfect ever since. you must turn it on from its own power button and allow it to shut down then remove the power second(unplug, powerbar/cond ect). or maybe its a dead battery.
