List your modules and rank them on a scale of 1-10
Hi all, I just got a Lynch Box amp about a month ago and I'm new to the module based MTS amps, but so far I'm really loving the idea of changing tubes/modding/etc and getting different sounds. I have an idea of all the modules, but I was curious to know what people's favorites are that they own.
Here are mine:
Grail - 6
Mr Scary - 7
UltraXL - 9
Brahma - 9
Super V - 5
I have a KH-1 on the way as well but I haven't gotten it in yet to rate.

I'll play, you'll gather from this that I'm all high gain
Randall:
KH3 8 or 9 depending on day
Grail 9 (Flat out 10 for a Pete modded Recto or Grail!)
Ultra 8
Brahma 8 (9 with a boost and or modded)
Mr Scary 8 (9 for modded version)
Ultra Lead 7
Modern 6 to 7 (depending on mood)
KH2 6 (7 or 8 with a boost)
Super V 7 (I like to use this for clean)
Egnater:
EG3/4 8 (9 with a boost
)
EG5 8 (great versatility)
UXL Custom 9
SL2 8 or 9 depending on mood
Modules I've owned that really got sold for other reasons than tone:
SL+ 6 (Pete modded one was around a 7 or 8 for flexibility...but there are better Marshall style mods)
Blackface 7 (bit too bright but nails clean tones)
KH1 8 (perfection of the Blackface)
Top Boost - 6 (sounds pretty good for that tone)
VX 9 (should never have sold it)
E'Rect 7 or 8 (prefer the Grail)
COD 7 (8 with a boost..needs moar gain!)
T/D - 7 (nothing wrong with the tones, just don't dig the Deluxe)
Deluxe - 5 (not a fan)
Tweed - 5 or 6 (OK but not my thing..does a blues hang)
Plexi - 6 (There's better Marshall tone to be had)
XTC - 5 (stock....7 for Pete modded...never got along with this module)
JTM - 7 (prefer it to the Plexi...great for noodling on with an LP..blues to crunch)
1086 - 5 (sounds/feels kinda fake...maybe a 6 with a boost and the right tubes)

I haven't recorded much with the RM100 yet, so my rankings are more from live perspective
Owned:
Blackface: 10 best clean tone of any amp I've owned
Modded UltraXL: 10 best lead module of the those I've played
Modded Plexi: 10 sounds like an old marshall but with more gain
Modded XTC: 10 best modern high gain rhythm module imo
Stock UltraXL: 8 lacks some low end and a bit fizzy on top
XTC stock: 7 needs boost for live
Plexi stock: 8 a bit tubby; good vintage tone
KH3: 8 great for rhythm; could use a boost for leads live
Ultra Lead: 7 this is a 10 if you like Santana tone; one trick pony
Grail: 7 eh, i'm not a mesa guy
Played:
1086: 8 (requires boost or mod to really rock, thin for leads)
KH2: 8 sounds like a more modern plexi to me
Mr Scary: 8 (ditto to 1086)
Top Boost: 7 good vintage lead tone; doesn't get clean vox tone tho
Modern: 7 needs a boost

Cool Thread! My grades are high because I love this line, and if a mod does 1 thing well, it has a purpose in my life! There are a few shockers with failing grades on my report, however
disclaimer: Keep in mind I sometimes like to add a tiny tiny slight boost with my MXR OD to give that extra edge to the mods. The only time I don't is with the EG5, and usually not the KH3 or PeteXTC. If I am really cranking volume, I'll be more prone to skip the OD
KH2: 9 very inspirational when I want to reach into my teenage years and chunk out some old school metal riffs
Brown: 10 this was modded by a mystery stranger- I love it! It delivers classic VH tones...I also like using it in the studio for supplemental tracks behind my modern crunch to deliver a cool clarity to my riffs
Pete modded
Blackface: 10 awesome
Tweed: 10 not my first flavor of choice out of metal/musical preference, but a strat and some blues riffs really shine here
JTM: 10 receives a 10 because it does the warm neck pickup jazzy clean tone with huge low end better than anything else + it gets that Jimi dirty tone
SL+: 10 Zakk Heaven
Treadplate: 10, orange switch: super 10!
XTC: 10 Lead Bliss- amazing, works well with any guitar
previously owned:
Deluxe: 7 if I liked country honk more, or played more Strat, it may be higher
KH1: 9 Killer clean
KH3: 8 best stock hi gain that I've had, versatile eq- there is something missing that would put it into a 10, I wonder if anyone with a PeteMod can chime in here
EG5: 6 something not quite right in the background of the tone during live/loud performances. Low grade due to ratio of high price to performance. Still, has a killer recorded 80s crunch tone that I regret losing- (though the KH2 fills that void)
Plexi 1! owned 3 of them, 2 stock, one was modded...I don't get it, I can get these half driven tones with other mods easy enough, but this Plexi doesn't go any further or bring anything more to the table. So far, I'm the only one on these boards who has not been happy with this module
1086: 3 highly disappointed. If this was your only module, it may be ok as you get a taste of a variety of tones, but none of the tones are as good as other stock options. Jack of all trades, master of none! Anyone using the Mesa side needs their head examined as the blankety muffle is not worth 2 minutes of your playing time. After all this bashing, I am curious what Pete's Mod can do to this, LOL
Modern 8 I miss my modern
May not need to replace it as I have Pete modded TopBoost incoming
