MTS Reamped Guitars on a Cool Record

http://danerunyon.bandcamp.com/album/under-grand-suggestion Dane recorded the majority of the guitar tracks at his apartment, which we then reamped in the studio using the MTS amps. Drums were played by Jeff Campitelli (Joe Satriani) and tracked at my studio. Bass was played by Bryan Beller...

    Pop-rock MTS

Thanks everyone for the kind words! We really have a great community here. I signed this band to a "production" deal and I'm currently promoting/shopping them. It is a lot of work and not what I'm used to doing - being a musician/engineer/producer type. The vocalist is quite talented as both...

    Pop-rock MTS

I realize that many of you here are into heavier stuff, but I thought you may be interested in hearing a pop-rock project done almost entirely with MTS gear. I used an RM20 and RM4-RT2/50 with the Plexi, Blackface, SL+, XTC, Top Boost and HBE on this record. The line is far more versatile than...

    Rivera Rock Crusher Power Attenuator

I never implied it was 100% exactly the same as a normal speaker at full power, but I have heard them and played through them - they sound really, really good and are the closest thing I have ever heard attenuated versus wide open. I read an article about these a year or so before I got to try...

    Rivera Rock Crusher Power Attenuator

http://www.fluxtone-speakers.com ALL the power goes to the speakers - the speaker efficiency is reduced by reducing the magnet strength (by varying the voltage to an electromagnet) thus lowering the volume to whatever you want. The ONLY thing I've ever found to sound good at low volume levels...

running a amp into a resistor (output loading)

First of all, I would use a resistive load that is rated higher than the amplifier output - running one that is rated for only 100 watts with that amp is asking for trouble (I'd probably go double for extended use). Next, do you have the resistor mounted on a proper heat sink? There is quite a...

    RT2/50 help

The 250 mA fuses used in the stock RT2/50 are too low current rating for EL34's and they will blow from time to time even when the tubes are fine. This does not appear to be a problem with the 6L6's (AFAIK). I believe Bruce Egnater and Hilly have recommended changing the fuse values to 400 mA...

    Module suggestions for RM4

FWIW - I would start saving your pennies for the RT2/50 and not blow all of your money on a bunch of modded modules right off the bat. I started out with an RM20 head with the intention of getting the RT2/50 a bit later. When I finally decided to pick up the RT2/50 they were back ordered and I...

Harsh Tone and Distortion from RM 50 Combo

G12T-75's pretty much suck IMHO. Vintage 30's and G12H30's 30th Aniv. would be a great combination for most stuff. FWIW - my Plexi module through the RT2/50 power amplifier sounds at least as good as my vintage Marshall heads. I have never played through any of the Randall combos, though.

Vox Satchurator pedal sounds a bit muddy.

I think that pedal is meant to be used with a clean amp sound - not 100% sure, but when I saw Joe a few months back it appeared that he was running the JSX amps clean and using the pedal for all the dirt. I meant to ask him about it after the show, but forgot to. That stated, you would...

RM4 on the way.. module suggestions pls?

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the Top Boost - what a great sounding module! I have not heard a Super-V yet, but I understand it is somewhat similar sounding and possibly better for some. The XTC and SL+ are definitely good higher gain choices. The Plexi sounds pretty much as good as...

OHMs and WATTS attorneys at physics

No....you're getting the full 100 watts (assuming you switched the impedance selector to the correct setting on the amp).

running rm100 with two power tubes

Most likely nothing bad... Check out this FAQ (about a quarter of the way down)- http://www.londonpower.com/faq.htm - lots of interesting information.
