Sometimes the modules aren't properly seated. I'd recommend electronics cleaning solution.
Sometimes the pots can become scratchy and go in and out, which can be worth looking into.
Well, not quite. The EL34 has an absolute max of 27W, which means that a minute drift or biased prior to warming up properly may blow them.
The KT77 has an absolute max of 32W and typically they are more rugged than comparable true pentodes, particularly those made today.
I would personally...
I'm partial to TAD 6L6s, WGCs for cleans and GCs for dirt. Pre-amps don't require bias but your outputs do. Easy peasy with one of those probe things and a multimeter.
I can tell. :) Yes it is, it's in essence a little darkish Fender Twin like module designed to take the clobbering of active pickups without breaking up or overloading the input, I believe.
How are you getting on with your amp, Nutbox? Any development on the module front? There seems to be quite a few MTS modules in Gerry-land on eBay, which means no VAT or customs charges. Germany in general seem to offer great prices and availability for instruments and gear.

But on the other hand they...
I have a total of three Marshall diagonal 2x12s with replaced backboards. They're basically identical although two are called 1966 and one is a Silver Jubilee 2556.
They're loaded with three different varieties of Fane speakers:
Medusa 150C for dirty lead
Medusa 150S for dirty rhythm

I suppose it's something like this then:

Nice and snappy whip-lash attack of the crunch. Kind of reminds me of something... of good metal pedigree, that unfortunately refuses to come to mind now.
Thank you so much for your replies, good people. Will look into your suggestions in due course. Tried it with my VX module and it seems more managable that way, though not perfect for what I need.
Seems I also will have to look into what impact of tone the speakers and the cab have. Open back...
