I'd assume the KH-1 or Clean for a pure, unmovable clean. If you want some native distortion on board, I'd figure a Super V, JTM, or even Plexi.

Plexi would be too low gain... I get a pretty good tone for this stuff from the brown, though. SL+ would do it too, I'd assume

As someone who has both the JTM and the Plexi... I'd go plexi, honestly. The JTM always feels just a tiny bit too thin, like it's in a room with a low hanging tin roof. The Plexi is basically punch in a box. Literally, it screams AC/DC (and I'm playing this all through an SG, mind you)...

About that weight thing for the RM100... Admittedly this is just an opinion, but the RM100 is quite manageable if I say so myself. It's an 80 or 90 pound 2x12 on wheels with some very nice handles. On flat ground, it's easier to move than my dinky 1x10 Roland cube, just because it has decent...

I actually get a really good high-gain tone out of the old Recto stock, with just a D-standard Les Paul. Hell, it's an EPIPHONE les paul and it still sounds incredible with this module

Well, I've reached that time. The sound is starting to crack out randomly, across all channels. It's almost certainly a dying power-tube. I've resolved to try replacing with EL34s, assuming I can. My question is, do I need to rebias it and all the usual stuff when changing tube types? I've never...

Depends. On the JTM, I go around there, because it gives me a nice, tingly crunch tone, and full gain sounds too harsh. The Brown, I go all out on, and everything will sound good no matter what. Ultra is another higher-gain situation, but I don't max it, since it's WAAAAY too much gain. However...

Here's my opinion: I was faced with the same dilemma, except I didn't even have the head first. The JSX is an amazing amp, but so is the RM100M. The JSX is arguably better for cleans/pedals (incredible onboard reverb, and it's stone-cold-clean; perfect pedal platform, a la KH3 or Clean)...

I suppose it depends on the tone, almost. I don't care for his live tone, sure. But in the studio, it's not nearly as bad. I don't know why (It doesn't SOUND like a crazily-airbrushed tone), but it is a good deal better. Maybe he had a larger rig in-studio, or didn't use the marshalls as much...

Bump for good module People, grab 'em before it's too late. This is being discontinued. Even if they say they're repackaging it as Plexi+, don't assume that it'll be the same. We don't know How "same" it'll be! Plus, the Plexi+ will likely cost more.

Can that modular thing plug into other amps? REALLY? That'd be so **** cool if it really works that well. Just get like a good amp, shove in, and add the channels you need. Better yet, get a crap amp, add those in, you suddenly have a fantastic amp at a cheaper price than having to buy an entire...

I'm not gonna buy, but I'm bumping it for the brown. I paid 140$ for my used Brown which I got with MY RM100; it's an incredible module that is such a STEAL at that price. Snag it before you regret it!

Marshally AND saturated? Brown is the way to go, bro. I love my brown for that; it's slightly looser than the SL+ and has a more saturated tone.

Go for broke and give us a few different types. Show us the lightet it goes, the heaviest, and your personal favorite tones. Frankly, I'd ask to hear some 80's rock.
