Re: VAI Dual EQ Module!!!

Very cool - can't wait to hear some demos by other folks. For some reason, Vai sounds (to me) like he has his electric sound blended with an acoustic piezo when he's playing clean. With the 'Signature' moniker under the brand logo, I hope that means there will be other artists having custom modules ...

SYN001 or 002 bypass: pedal friendly?

There are a small handful of dirt/fuzz pedals that I'm just not going to give up. And as much as I've tried, I still can't get those pedals to sound good through my Egnater T/D or BMAN modules (set clean) in my MOD50. Looking at a couple of modern amps (i.e. with an effects loop) that have pedal-fri...

I know, right? That thing was a beast when I had one. Heavier than my Super Reverb head.

The Mojotone Select is a 2x12 cab.

Hate to say it (it's not a 1x12), but the Tourmaster 212 cab is pretty much perfect for the Egnater modules. I had one with my (previous) M4 / RT2-50 rig; covered a lot of ground, from clean to crunch to high gain. I've got a Mojotone Select cab incoming to use with my MOD50; has similar dimensions,...

yeah, speakers will play a giant part in the tone. I really want a Heartbreakers-esque type of sound. I really love that rich throaty light crunch with top end. pretty tough to get. Ditto that. I was never able to get that with the Egnater VX. Closest I've come (pedal-wise, through my SRRI) has bee...

Yeah, the demos are going to be a deciding factor for me, but not by much. The one I'd love to hear is an EG5 vs the new SLO. I have all ideas the Metroplex, AC, DS and BE/HBE are going to sound better than my current Egnater VX and SL2X mods. Maybe even the upgraded T/D vs my Eggie T/D. Not that th...

I'm hopeful. My takeaways from the 1st video: 1) The amp is not mic'd. No telling what kind of camera/cameraphone was used to shoot them, but you're relying on whatever mic (at a distance) that thing has. 2) The vid was recorded in a small room with empty hard walls at volume. You can hear the rever...

I still have my MOD50 head and five modules, but the fact that I can't get an OD/dist pedal to sound good through the T/D or BMAN modules is kind of a dealbreaker. My other amps are a Peavey JSX combo, a Peavey XXX head (original version) and a Fender Super Reverb head/212 + dirt pedals (not exactly...

Well, this is a bit depressing:

A local shop has a used MOD50 with two modules (not sure which ones yet) and footswitch for $1170.
Makes me want to hold on to mine until I get a better cab/speakers for it and decide if that makes a difference.

My only remaining hope is the fact that someone (audiomidi?) has been playing the new stuff on a somewhat regular basis. Again, we'll see. If that stuff DOES make it to market, I think it will be a hit. The E2 will be the unit everyone will want as an add-on to their current amp. If it takes yet ano...

Not that it's a BAD amp to be stuck with - it's not a $2400 solid-state Peavey.
I probably need a better cab/speakers to run it through.

Maybe when the Synergy stuff gets out in the wild, there might be more interest.

Does this mean I shouldn't bother selling my MOD50 and modules?
Seriously.

I'm using my pedals through my Fender more, and the Eggie stuff is too expensive to keep if I'm not playing it.
I'm not giving it away though.

Basically, I'm selling off my VX, EG5 and BMAN modules first; the BMAN currently has the 'XMAN' mod, but I can reverse that easily upon request.

After those are gone, I'll be selling my MOD50 with T/D and SL2X modules.
