I was trying out a new guitar yesterday and switched to the 1086. Sounded a little low on gain but clear and noise free (clearer than normal). Played for a few minutes and it started to get cleaner and cleaner, as in the gain was dropping. Shut down and tried a pair of known good JJ tubes...

Even if you don't use it, clean the MVB jack. Just spray a plug with some type of contact cleaner and plug in and out a few times. Repeat a few times.

I LOVE my 1086. It's my only stock gain module left. I actually started with my RM100 and KH-1 and 1086. To me, it's 2/3 Mesa Mark-ish with 1/3 Marshall stirred in. The bottom end is the best of all my modules in that it never gets that flubby, loose sound no matter how low you tune or how high...

It never even crossed my mind. I don't know anything about him or know that he'd want to mess with adapting a Randall module to sound like one of his amps.. I'm more apt to stick with a tried and true modder personally. And I'm still looking to trade by the way..
