my modded treadplate sounds similar to your description. i bumped up the mids and cut the bass, and lowered the gain on the module. mid-barky, and really present and focused.
just the three....stock blackface, modded treadplate, modded sl+.
funnily enough, i have the treadplate set up for more of a low-gain barky lead, and the sl+ as the more scooped, gainy, compressed deal. opposite of what i initially envisioned.

okay upon further inspection i found 2-27-02 on the board...so i'm guessing it's one of the OG modules. my question still stands: anything to be worried about?
just got this sl+ with a serial i have no idea about...also it looks to be a different faceplate from my other ones which all have a black bar up the top...also it has silver screws instead of black.
this early or recent? anything i should be worried about?
thanks for the quick answer! i keep the 1086 on low gain, and use the gain switch for slayer mode, so i'd like to keep it that way.
would replacing the caps go towards any other EQ possibilities other than scooping out the mids? the switch is going unused, and i'd like it to pull its weight, so...
