I’m going to be ordering my 1st Synergy mod soon, and I think I want to start with an Engl.

I’ve owned several Engl amps, inc the Powerball, but never played a Savage.

Can anyone attempt to describe the differences between them?

I only briefly demoed a Powerball, but went with the Savage instead. It had a more 'dry/tight' sound if that makes sense. I use the blue channel as an almost clean channel and the red channel as a rhythm channel.

The Powerball does have way more flexibility since each channel has it's own controls as well as selectable gain switches. If you can't try them yourself, try listening to some demos by the same players on YouTube. it won't be as good as hearing yourself with your own setup, but gives you a rough idea.
