Not sure about the Synergy ones but Egnater used to do one called the SL2x which was pretty much just the AFD module - they are dual channel like the Synergy ones and still about - demo here:

As for the Synergy ones I dont think the Plexi would have enough gain - I would have thought the Friedman DS or the Metro plex might be closer

I have the Plexi and Metroplex. In my experience, the Plexi has far more gain than the Metro, which has more of a "modern" Plexi tone than the Plexi.

If you're cranking up both the Bright and Normal gain and you're playing a Les Paul with high gain pickups, getting the AFD tone shouldn't be that difficult, especially if you're using great sounding Greenback IR's. The speakers and microphone choice are just as important as the head/module and guitar/pickups in replicating that tone.

Which synergy module would get close to slash's amp tone? Plexi?

Try the 800 if you can. Friedman designed it and i really like it for that JCM -> Jubilee sound so i bet its at least close to what you want (?). It has more upper mids than the BE or SLO for example, which i find too dark almost.

Using syn50 head poweramp
