As far as hotter pickups losing tone.... You don't have to turn then all the way up all the time. ;)

Really depends on your style. I usually prefer AX7s in gain stages, but in a hybrid it *could* play a little "loose" for really fast stuff.

Is anyone still using the RG80 112SC combos? I just picked one up (snakeskin tolex) and I think it's a great little amp. Anyone? (I'll post some pics when I can)

You can experiment with LEDs, Si, GE, Zener, etc. One popular mod is to clone the Red channel so that you essentially have two Red channels instead of Red/Green

Some like the thighter sound of a less overdriven front end.
