"CE" on the back of some guitars, WTF?

I've seen this mark on imported guitars (usually from Korea or China)
From what I gather, it's a certification that the product meets electrical standards set (originally) by the European Community, (hence "CE" Community Europe)
That's all I got.

Anybody wanna clarify this? Elaborate, perhaps? :idea:
