BTW, I notice you've got JJ tubes in your Grail....are all Grails shipping that way from the factory?

I've gotten 3 new modules recently - Plexi, Grail and Mr Scary. All 3 came loaded with JJ ECC83s.

I also bought an Ultra Lead (black stripe) second hand...that has the JJs too but there remains the possibility prior owner replaced them.

****, you guys are really making me feel under-educated about electronics. Need to start reading more about this.

Ok guys,

After giving a look to the Recto and Rectified modules schematic this morning i realised that i mistakenly assumed that C3 on the original Recto module was a 0.001Uf (or 1000Pf).

In fact according to the schematics found here and verified with the value found on my own Recto mod, this cap is a 0.0047Uf (4700pF) on the Recto and 0.0022uF(2200pF) on the Rectified mod.

Nonetheless, i have tried a 470pF and, as i expected, found it removed too much low end for my taste, but fyi i rarely tune lower than dropped D, and the guitars i own don't have the output of many forumites EMG's equipped guitars.

NB: I have not tried the resistors mod yet ....

There may be some of you like myself, who only dabble in electronics when the need arises. I found this site to be helpful..... :D

Ok here we go again,

Since it's such a fascinating subject ( to me at least  ) and to complete the analysys of the Recto vs Grail differences:

It would be interesting to see if there is other differences than the ones already observed until now.

So, it would be cool if some owner(s) of a Grail module would be willing to remove the faceplate and bottom plate on his module and post a good hi-res pic of the solder side of the pcb. I'm ready to do it for the Recto

Also, to make sure we don't skip some crucial details, if someone could measure the gain, bass, mid and treble pot values with an ohmmeter and post the results, please.

Here's my Recto solder side pic.
