Like the title says. Ive read as much as i could while waiting for my RM100 to arrive, and its given me heaps of info on topics i wasn't sure about. So thanks for that.

Couple things im still not sure about ,

1. The head i got came with a busted fuse, NO.2, But the tube looks okay . Anyway im gonna replace the tube anyway. but is the best tact to get a higher rated fuse(like 315mA Fast Blo) than the ones that come with the amp. Ive read references to this in parts of the forum but nothing conclusive. Something like this

http://www.jaycar.com.au/productResults.asp?CATID=23&SUBCATID=603&keyform=CAT&SUBMIT.x=18&SUBMIT.y=10

2. Ive read many problems with arcing on this board, and corona dope seems to be the main thing ive read about to battle this problem. Only thing is i cant find a Aussie retailer that sells it, but is it something like this and would it be a suitable replacement

http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=NA1002&CATID=16&form=CAT&SUBCATID=277

3.In regards to the power tube section . When you guys mention the inside pair, are you talking about tube 2 and 3, with the outside pair being 1 and 4?

4.My head came with a module that was sold as an egnater plexi. All things fair, it has alook that is very similar to the egnater modules ive seen but a lot older in design i guess. Only thing is 1: I cant find mention of that module anywhere, 2: Plexi is written on what looks like liquid paper or white paint or something. Ill take pictures of it and find somewhere to host it , or can you post pictures here?

5. My head has the black cloth grill, I like the grill but like r100M grill better, are they interchangeable and if so where do you purchase the grills from.

A lot of questions there for now, so ill stop before i give you all a hemmorage.

Thanks in advance for any questions answered.
Kind regards
Patrick :D

Updates...

The Fuse is correct, I took it in to my local guitar shop and lo and behold the link i provided from that seems to be the only local place i can get them. But at least it is correct. Still i am wondering about the value. The store only has 250mA ones, and im sure I read on this forum somewhere that 315 or 400 mA is a better choice.

Black cloth grill peeled off like with no effort and looks like it would be pretty easy to make my own design there and replace it. Still like the RM100M look though.

The Egnater is an egnater as printed on the pcb. Its got a serial and model is Plexi. Solder work is pretty dodgey ,looks like someone redid it at some stage and i think ill redo it, to many cold solders forthcoming i think. I still cant find anything on the net about it, but it looks quite old. Dunno what to say about that one, ill definately take a photo and post it on that one .

Well it actually looks pretty much exactly like this, but in between the middle and treble dials it has an extra button labelled voicing

I never saw an Egnater plexi, but they seemed to have produced a lot of one-offs over the years. Sounds like a cool mod to own

The fact that it has a voicing switch confirms it's an Egnater...that was definitely on some of the single channels prior to the dual channel development.

I hope this imageshack thing works, let me know if it doesn't!

excellent photos! It looks like the voicing switch probably changes the overall value of the cap feeding the treble pot....

Wow, I haven't seen that module in a loooong time! I think that used to be mine. BTW, it was not originally a "Plexi". It was an "SL" When I sold it, it was still and SL. If I'm reading the Ser# correctly, it matches the one I used to own. Anyway, I can see that there have been a ton of component changes on the board....R24, R13, R20 have been removed, R16, R30, R31 have been changed as well as C3. Also C1 on the tube board has been removed. You can tell it is an early one (made in 02) by the serial number and the "Plexi" on the PCB and the faceplate were changed later.
The voicing switch was a mid-cut and didn't really sound too good--too scooped.

Really Cool response Mudrock. If this was your module its really travelled a long way , well lets just say from the point of origin that i bought it from plus your location, would make it that the module has travelled from Cleveland to Bendigo Australia, Then Ive bought it off Ebay and its travelled all the way around Australia as I could only afford Greyhound Bus Freight and as I tracked it it did about 6000 Kms. Then we have to factor in the person that owned it before the guy I bought it off as he told me he hasnt modded it he just bought it as is. So that makes for quite a journey for the SL turned Plexi module.

I think ill strip off the Black Paint at the front , and paint it Green with black undertones and call it The Hulk as it doesnt seem to know which entity it really is.

The voicing module does exactly what you described, and im sharing your opinion on the fact it aint that great. Otherwise a really nice sounding preamp.
